Restaurant.com – 80% off Gift Certificates

October 30, 2009

Restaurantcom

This is legit!  Last year I went to Las Vegas and ate at Envy Steakhouse with some good friends.  One of my friends bought a $50 gift card online for $2.  The only catches were that we had to order at least $100 worth of food and that alcohol could not be included in the $100.  So we ordered, ate some great Bone-in Rib Eye Steaks and used our $50 gift card.  To my amazement, the waiter didn’t reject our gift card and deducted $50 off our bill just like that!

There are a bunch of crappy restaurants that you can choose from but also a few awesome ones!  I personally bought gift cards to a couple restaurants in Mandalay Bay – Las Vegas (Strip Steak and Aureole) and a small restaurant in Santa Ana called “Jason’s Place” I’ve heard was really good.  The best thing to do is run a search on Restaurant.com for participating restaurants in your area (or an area you’ll be vacationing to soon) and use Yelp.com to check them out.

Add the gift certificates to your cart and use the coupon code TREATS when you check out to get an additional 80% off their already discounted price.  Enjoy!  RESTAURANT.COM

JetBlue – All You Can Jet for $599!

August 20, 2009

Jet BlueJet blue 2

I personally am all travelled out after spending days on the plane from LA to Africa and back.  But this deal definitely caught my attention.  I didn’t have time to read into it until recently and found this deal to be pretty legit.  For $599, you can purchase an “all you can jet” pass and fly to the many locations JetBlue flies to in the US and Internationally (International fees and taxes may apply but no additional taxes for domestic flights).  The only snag (which really isn’t a snag) is that you must book 3 days in advance and cancel flights 3 days in advance as well.  If you don’t show or cancel less than 3 days in advance, you’ll be assessed a $100 fee.  If you’ve got the time and desire to travel to places like NYC, Boston, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, etc. this should be a no brainer for you.  Here’s the LINK.  Deal ends Friday, Aug 21st.

Back from the Travels!

August 18, 2009

After a few weeks of travel, I am back scouring the web for a deal worth mentioning.  You can expect some soon.  Also, would love it if DopeDeals could feature some other bloggers.  If you have a blog or would like to post something on this site, let me know by leaving a comment!

Toms Shoes – One for One

Toms Child Toms Shoes Logo

TOMS Shoes was founded by Blake Mycoskie, an American traveler who befriended children in Argentina and saw that they had no shoes for their feet.  He created a company with a simple philosophy, One for One.  For every shoe purchased, one pair would also be donated to a child in need.  Since TOMS started, they’ve supplied over 140,000 shoes to those in need.  How awesome is that!  They’ve been all over the media as an example of creative social entrepeneurship.  What if all businesses were run that way?  I wonder how different the world would be…

7 For All Mankind “Private Sale”

Now, before you start your judging, don’t get me wrong.  I personally am not into high fashion nor am I an advocate for designer anything (the only 7 jeans I have, I purchased in Thailand for $20 after much haggling. Now that’s a DopeDeal!!).  But this is a pretty good deal for those who are.  I looked through this “Private Sale” and I see things over 50% off.  Must be a sign of the times.  Out of all the crazy jeans I see out on the market these days, I think I prefer 7′s designs because they don’t seem to over do it.  The cuts are comfortable and the washes and stitching aren’t too flamboyant.  Enjoy!

Here’s the LINK.

For those who aren’t into designer stuff.  Check out my next post!

Vizio – 47in 120hz 1080p LCD HDTV

May 21, 2009

Vizio 47Vizio 472

Regular Price:  $1399 + Tax

Deal Price: $1048 + Tax

This one is for you, the budget shoppers, who don’t really nitpick at all the techincal details and who care very little for nuances in picture no matter how much a techie would argue with you.  Costco and Sams Club have this set for 1048+tax (In Store Only).  Its got the 120hz like a lot of the higher-end LCDs and the picture quality is decent.  It’s not my favorite pick but its pretty good bang-for-the-buck which makes this a DopeDeal.  Just head down to your local Costco or Samsclub!

Samsung LN52B750 52-Inch 1080p 240Hz LCD HDTV with Charcoal Grey Touch of Color

May 21, 2009

samsung tv 2 sideSamsung TV 2

Regular Price: $2464.99 on Amazon (retail $2899)

Deal Price: $2064.99

I don’t know what it is about Samsung TV’s but I like them alot.  The design, the quality of picture, the simplicity…Here is a deal on one of the newer Samsung models.  If you thought 120hz was pretty cool and life-like, wait until you get a load of  the 240hz!  Technology always amazes me.  Use the coupon code SAMSFOUR on Amazon.com at checkout. LINK.

You can also use SAMTHREE for the 46in version ($300 savings) and SAMTVTWO for the 40in version

Now I know what some of you are thinking…$2k on a TV!  That’s a pretty penny.  I def agree with you (check out my next post for a TV half the price).  But this one is especially for the Home Entertainment junkies.  This is as good a TV as you can get without jumping to the next level: LED (3K+ for anything above 46in).  On the new Samsung B750′s they’ve deepened the d-contrast ratios to 150,000:1. The previous model had 50,000:1.  They’ve also sped up the response time from 4ms to 2ms!

When I last compared Sony and Samsung TVs in the same price range, I sided with Samsung for the picture/color/contrast quality and Sony for the way they’ve optimized the 120hz. And I wished somehow I could blend the two.  But with the next gen of 240hz sets I put Samsung way ahead.  The Tipping Factor: PRICE.  A comparable Sony TV at 52in runs almost $800 more than this deal price for the Samsung B750 and it specs out to be inferior (Sony XBR7).  Why pay more for less?

Samsung 46in 120 LCD TV (LN46A650)

April 10, 2009

Samsung LN46A650samsung-tv-side

Retail Price: $2099

Deal Price: $1437 (Free Shipping)

I have an obsession with TV’s and picture quality.  I’ve had the 52 version of this TV and the picture quality is amazing!  Deep blacks, rich colors and the 120hz makes some BluRay movies look unreal.  Fry’s is offering this TV for $1299 but after all the fees and taxes (in CA), it comes out to $1437.  You can pick up in the store or have it shipped for free. Here’s the LINK

For those who don’t know TV’s that well, you may say that this TV is a bit pricer than the ones you see at Costco for $1000.  I’d encourage you to go ahead and buy the ones you see for the cheaper price.  But if you’re into picture quality, the 120hz, BluRay, PS3 games, etc. then this is a solid deal for you.  All the reviews on the net for this particular  TV make it sound perfect.

GearScan.com – Outdoor Equipment Deal Site

April 10, 2009

gearscan_screenshot1This is a pretty cool deal site for your outdoor sporting needs (mountain biking, camping, snowboarding, skiing, clothing, etc).  It combines some of the best 1 item deal sites and puts them all together.  There is another site that does something similar, gearattack.com.  But I much prefer this site because of how quick it loads compared to gearattack.com and also the easy to follow design and functionality of the site.  Eugene, the dude that runs the site, tuned me into it when I first started my blog and I’ve been following it ever since.  The deals posted on this site average around 50% but up to 80%.  WWW.GEARSCAN.COM.
